Courses on Hu Yoga – a Sufi Yoga

Hu Yoga Course is the learning of Sufi Yoga based on traditional Asanas (yogic posture), Pranayamas (yogic breathing technique), Bandhas (internal body lock), Mudras (yogic gestures) and Muraqaba Dhyana (Sufi meditation) with integration of Sufi technique of oneness with the Devine.

What is Hu Yoga?

Sufism, in its spirit, one hundred percent matches the spirit of Bhakti yoga, the sweetest and shortest path towards oneness with the Ultimate. Sufis in Indian sub-continent found yoga as a great ally in their devotional technique to achieve enlightenment (the Fana Fillah/Bakabillah). Since the advent of Sufis in this land they have integrated a lot of yogic techniques in their way of spiritual practice (Tasawwuf). Being inspired by the incorporation of yogic tools and techniques in the structure of Sufism we have adopted a reversal method of grafting the spirit of Sufism into the ancient system of yoga without any distortion. This is how a person practicing Hu yoga implies practicing Sufism in the form of authentic yoga system.

What is Hu Yoga course?

The courses on Hu yoga are combination of Ashtanga yoga philosophy, Hatha yoga style and Nithyananda techniques of yoga-spirituality. This combination, because of its very nature of combination, is soaked with the spirit of Bhakti yoga and Sufism. Sufi devotional technique of oneness with the Devine is grafted onto this combination of different yoga traditions in such a successful way that a practitioner of Hu yoga eventually becomes a Sufi.

Hu Foundation provides 3 courses (basic, intermediate and advance) on Hu Yoga which are a gradual graduation through the basic course to the advance one. A number of theoretical classes on yoga and Sufi systems will be held in each of the courses to create a proper knowledge base and mental setting for practicing Hu yoga. The courses cover the following areas of yoga and Sufism:

  1. yogic and Sufi philosophies and principles;
  2. different paths of yoga (traditional 5 paths);
  3. yogic lifestyle (charya) and food habit (ahara);
  4. Shatkarma/Panchakriya (yogic cleansing)
  5. yogic postures (asanas);
  6. yogic breathing techniques (pranayamas);
  7. internal body lock (Bandhas);
  8. yogic gestures (Mudras);
  9. Japa yoga and dhikr (Zikr); and
  10. Muraqaba meditation (dhyana).

Since Hu yoga is a complete code of life the practitioners will have to bring modifications in their lifestyle, food habit, mental setting and outlook towards life to align her/himself in line with yoga.
